The Visual Argument

Can images do what words do?
The use of images to convey an argument is not too widespread, but is just as effective has a spoken or textual argument. Images can in some cases leave a more powerful message than words alone. The sentence, there is a starving child who needs your help, may not be as persuasive as an image of a crying starving child holding her hands our for food. Images however powerful may sometimes also not be as clear as words, an image arguing one point could be interpreted in several different ways while words are more often than not clear in their meaning when an argument is being made. So although images may offer a very powerful argument in some cases, more often they will not be able to capture an argument as fully as words can.
